Hollowland by Amanda Hocking

"This is the way the world ends - not with a bang or a whimper, but with zombies breaking down the back door."
A kindle version of Hollowland by Amanda Hocking can be obtained free of cost from Amazon. Well we all love free things, don't we!

After Remy manage to escape from her quarantine complex after zombies overpower their security forces, she soon finds out that her brother Max, who was in the sick ward, was one of the first to be evacuated. What follows in the next 300 odd pages is nineteen-year-old Remy King teaming up with friends she meets along the way to search for her brother through zombie-infested lands of America and nothing will stand in her way - not violent marauders, a spoiled rock star, or an army of flesh-eating zombies.

This is a fast-paced, zombie filled and action driven roller-coaster ride via zombie apocalypse. Remy's characterization is very strong, but that of supporting characters is more or less flat. The story does not really concern with the emotions of the characters, but the fast sequence of events, which can be a good or bad thing.

Hollowland is a gripping, fast paced and a quick read. If I may say so a shoot 'em up kind of book. Hollowland is followed by Hollowman, the second book in The Hollows series.
